![]() Today Hersheypark has expanded to include over 65 rides and attractions, including over 12 roller coasters, a water park and an 11-acre zoo ZooAmerica. By 1907 he built an amusement park to offer recreation and leisure for the chocolate company employees. He built a model town for his employees and their families that included comfortable homes, an inexpensive public transportation system, a quality public school system and extensive recreational and cultural opportunities. ![]() Hershey envisioned a complete new community around his factory. Hershey decided on this rural location to construct what would become the world’s largest chocolate manufacturing plant, his plan was not limited to producing chocolate. ![]() Hershey is often referred to as “Chocolatetown, USA,” because it was basically built on chocolate.
